Golden-voice singer Charlie Russo is a singing sensation. From the moment he steps onto the stage, his performance is electrifying. His extensive repertoire ranges from the easy-listening ballads of Frank Sinatra to the upbeat tunes of Stevie Wonder. His breathtaking voice captivates audiences of all ages.
Born and raised in Bronx, NY, Charlie Russo Jr. was introduced to music at a very young age. From his first performance in the Mount Carmel School choir, Charlie instantly decided that a singing career would be his ultimate aspiration. His mother, an opera singer, always encouraged his enthusiasm in music and performing arts. From 1971 to 1976, Charlie studied music and stage presentation and attended voice lessons with a professional singing instructor.
Charlie’s first big break occurred at 15, when he performed at the world-renowned Concourse Plaza, receiving his first standing ovation. He began to sing at numerous social events throughout New York City, and with a personal invitation from Jilly Rizzo himself, Charlie appeared at the famous Jilly’s Night Club in Manhattan. He had many return engagements to Jilly’s over the years, while also performing at several other New York City venues including the Sheridan Hotel, the Riviera Country Club, and the Four Winds.
“The People’s Choice!” Charlie’s career continued to blossom as he made his way to Catskill, NY, where he was named “Catskill’s Favorite Singing Star.” After his debut at the famous Friar Tuck Country Club, Charlie’s upstate tour progressed to legendary resorts such as Grossingers and the Concord. He also appeared at several major philanthropy events including: The American Cancer Society, The Cerebral Palsy Association, and The Muscular Dystrophy Association. The local Catskill newspaper proclaimed Charlie to be “the new Frank Sinatra!”
In 1979, Charlie moved to Las Vegas to continue his singing career. With his charming charisma and dynamic personality, Charlie landed a booking at the Maxim Hotel/Casinowithin one week of his arrival. His first appearance was so well received that he was invited to perform there on five different occasions. As his captivating performances grew, so did his reputation, and Charlie had many opportunities to appear at the Tropicana, the Sahara Hotel, the Desert Inn Hotel, and at Top of the Dunes Hotel.
Charlie then headed east to Atlantic City, where his charismatic performances landed him many return engagements at numerous hotels and casinos including the Tropicana, Caesar’s and Bally’s.
Charlie made his grand debut in Florida in 2005, when he performed at Mr. G’s Lounge and Nightclub. “Charlie showed them how to do it Vegas (style) to a full house,”proclaimed Editor-in-Chief Patrick Mascola of the Around Town, a Ft. Lauderdale newspaper.
In 2006, Charlie opened for Marvin Hamlisch on an 18-show Florida tour after receiving a personal invitation from Hamlisch to perform. “Charlie Russo is the best opening act I’ve ever had!” – Marvin Hamlisch.
In 2007, Charlie was call back to Atlantic City to perform at numerous casinos andvarious nightclubs in New York City.
In 2008, Mr. Russo has continued to perform at club dates and concerts thru out New York and Westchester. Starting the year off at The Ceola Manor in Yorktown, NY, On to The New York Hilton in New York City, to the Country Clubs In New Rochelle “The Davenport and The Old Homestead” in Westchester County, back to the “Marina Del Rey” for a special performance honoring NY City Police Commissioner Kelly.
In 2009, Once again Charlie was called back to The Ceola Manor in Yorktown NY for a return engagement, followed by two shows at The Empire City Casino In Yonkers, NY. He was asked to sing at The Fountainhead Country Club for the New Rochelle Opera Company. Requested back to the “Marina Del Rey” for a special performance Singing the National Anthem in honor of Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
In July of 2009 requested to perform two more shows at The Empire City Casino In Yonkers.
In January 2010 back by popular demand once again at the Empire City Casino in Yonkers New York, rebooking immediately to return in May, October, December .and bringing in the New Year 2011. In April of 2010 back to the “Marina Del Rey” where he opened with the National Anthem for Governor Paterson and Mayor Michael Bloomberg were they were the honored guests for the New York Association of Realtors. In June performed for the Memorial Sloan Kettering in Sleepy Hollow in Westchester. In July Charlie was the honored guest at the Mount Carmel Italian Feast in the Belmont community in The Bronx. For the remaining of the year Charlie has numerous booking to perform at Nightclubs and Country Clubs thru out New York and Westchester County.
As of 2019 Charlie still is performing through out New York and Florida.
